As I’ve been reading Calm My Anxious Heart, by Linda Dillow, I have been struck by the question “What does God ask of me?” to which I have had to ask myself “What have I been asking of myself?” God asks for faithfulness. “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” (1 Cor 4:2) If I am honest with myself, what I have been asking of myself is mostly accomplishment, and often perfection. But this is not what God desires of me. He desires for me to be faithful to what He has given me.
What role has He placed me in? Wife, mother, teacher, keeper of the home, hostess, mentor, daughter, friend. Am I being faithful? What is faithful? Firmly and devotedly supportive or worthy of trust or belief, is what Webster’s says. Who am I to be devotedly supportive to? God. Who is supposed to be able to trust me? Everyone around me.
Jesus came to the earth not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as ransom for many (Matthew 20:28). He has asked us to do the same. God measuring stick is not success, but faithfulness in giving our lives over to Him, to serve Him by serving others and thereby bringing glory to Him.
Lord, I pray that you would continue to move me towards being a faithful, contented servant. I am so blessed by where You have me. Thank you for the many roles that You have given me. I desire to be faithful to You by serving all those that You have placed in my life. Continue to decrease my selfish nature and increase Your selfless nature in my life, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Thank you for your honest comment on Audrey Caroline. I am feeling so encouraged, knowing that I am not alone!
I saw your comment on Angie Smith's blog, and noticed you have been diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome. I wondered if you are connected with other adults dealing with it - my son's high school girlfriend (now 27 years old) has Long QT, which was diagnosed immediately after her twin sister died when her heart stopped as she was startled by the alarm clock. I'd love to get you connected with her - she's about 12 years post-diagnosis. I'd love for you to email me at auntmommie@aol.com.
His plan is perfect, His ways untraceable. He does all things well.
